Using home remedies to fight gum disease is efficient and cost-effective. You can easily eliminate gingivitis if you start treatment at the early stages. Besides, getting rid of the plaque is more significant before it develops into tartar. Ensure you also increase your brushing and flossing frequency. Here are some of the home remedies that help prevent gum disease:
Tea tree oil
Research shows that the tea tree oil has various antibiotic and antiseptic properties, which can help eliminate both plaque and bacteria from your mouth. Mix your toothpaste with a drop of tea tree oil and brush your teeth. You can also have a cup of warm water and add about three drops. Take the solution, swish it in your mouth for around 30 seconds, and then spit it. You can do this at least three times a day. Ensure you don't sallow the tea tree oil accidentally.
Honey
Honey has natural anti-bacterial properties that get rid of bacteria that cause gum inflammation. You need to apply raw honey to your gums after brushing. This is mainly beneficial to people who suffer from periodontal disease.
Aloe vera mouthwash
Research shows that aloe vera can greatly reduce plaque on the teeth'surfaces. The aloe vera juice will significantly reduce gingivitis symptoms. Take the juice and swish it in your mouth for about 30 seconds. Spit the juice and repeat the process several times daily. Never buy aloe vera from nonauthorized dealers and strictly follow the instructions.
Coconut oil pulling
The method comprises of cleaning your teeth and gums using coconut oil. Swish the oil in your mouth and spit it. Then use water to rinse your mouth and spit the water out. After that, drink a glass of water. Coconut oil has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Other home remedies include the use of turmeric powder, guava leaves mouthwash, lemongrass oil mouthwash, and sage mouthwash. Besides, ensure you have a well-balanced diet for your overall health and, more so, your oral health.
