We are all aware that gum disease causes too many health problems to us. That is why there is a need to know what causes gum diseases to develop and then act on ensuring that we remain healthy and prevent gum disease. Our dental team will guide you on all reasons that might bring about gum disease.
Poor dental hygiene
Brushing the teeth and flossing at least twice daily is a way of preventing gum disease. The brushing of teeth is important for it removes all food particles that are in the mouth. Brushing with fluoride toothpaste is the most vital aspect for fluoride has products that help in preventing tooth decay. The flooding will remove food particles that are in between the teeth and those that are hidden in grooves. The bacteria in the mouth combine with left food particles and acid is formed, when this acid combines with the bacteria it causes erosion of the enamel exposing the dentin and pulp to get infected. This finally leads to tooth loss, cavities, and gum disease. Brushing will help prevent all these problems.
Smoking and Alcohol
Making is a major cause for gum disease, this is because the smoke causes the teeth to have intense plaque formation. When plaque accumulates for long it forms tartar. Tartar is hard to eliminate and might cause gum disease. The smoke from cigarettes can cause stains on the teeth and there is tooth discoloration. Alcohol, when combined with mouth bacteria, caused the formation of acid that erodes the teeth enamel and this leads to tooth loss, gum disease, and even cavities. Our dental team will help you in preventing and even treating gum disease.
