Common Symptoms of Tooth Decay?

Posted on 2/21/2022 by Todd Jorgenson
Common Symptoms of Tooth Decay?Tooth decay is a serious dental problem, that, if left unchecked and untreated can lead to you losing your tooth. It is therefore important to ensure that you get regular dental checkups to arrest the issue at the early stages to avoid the issue from developing into a dental cavity. When you come to our facility, we perform thorough dental checkups to ensure that we detect any underlying oral health issues and start preventive and corrective treatment immediately. You can also observe tell-tale signs that you might be developing tooth decay problems.

Toothache

This is a major symptom that can point to you having tooth decay. When your enamel is eroded, infections can affect the pulp which is the most layer of your tooth. The pulp contains nerve endings, and when they are impacted, they can result in excruciating pain.

Bad Breath

When you have tooth decay, you will likely have a gum infection. Tooth decay is caused by bacteria that produce acids after the breakdown of food. The acid can affect your gums, and in the process produce a foul smell which comes out as bad breath.

Tooth Sensitivity

Another sign that you might have tooth decay problems is feeling pain or tenderness when taking hot or cold drinks and foods.

Dark or Grey Spots on Your Teeth

If you observe discolored, dark, or grey spots on your teeth, it could be a strong indication that you have tooth decay.
