Why Your Child Should Have a Pediatric Dentist Instead of Just a Family Dentist
Posted on 5/29/2020 by Todd Jorgenson
Many people wonder if they really need to send their child to a pediatric dentist. They wonder if they could just turn to a family dentist that could take care of everyone in their home. While there is nothing wrong with a family dentist, a pediatric dentist does have things to offer that provide better care for your child.
What Makes a Pediatric Dentist Difference
If a person looks at the degrees on the wall they may wonder what makes a pediatric dentist different than a family dentist. While both types attend a dental school, the pediatric dentist does an extra 2 to 3 years of training in their specialty. This helps them learn skills to not only deal with the child's behavior at the dentist, but also to deal with the unique dental issues that children face. Our pediatric dental practice offers many things that most family practices do not.
•
Training –
•
The dentist and all the staff have training to help them work with children and to give children the best experience possible.
•
Experience –
•
We only deal with children and that gives us more experience with them.
•
Environment –
•
Everything in our office is geared to making children comfortable. It is not the sterile environment of other offices. It is a place that puts kids in a positive frame of mind.
•
Tools –
•
We have the tools needed for kids and kid friendly furniture and other equipment for a better experience.
•
Teaching –
•
We are experts at teaching kids how they should take care of their teeth.
These things do not mean that a child cannot get good care from a family dental practice. There are some people who like the convenience of a one stop for the family dentist. What these things mean is that we can offer the best possible care for children. We can provide them with an experience that removes the fear of the dentist and starts them on a long life of happy, healthy smiles. If you want to learn why a pediatric office is the right choice. Please come by our office or give us a call for more information.
