 Bleeding gums is a scary thing. It is a sign that something is not right. The question you need to ask is why your gums are bleeding.
Figuring out that answer can help you figure out what you should do. There are plenty of reasons for bleeding gums. Some are a big problem, and some are not a big deal.

Minor ProblemsBleeding gums may not be a big deal. These are some of the minor issues that cause bleeding gums.

Cuts - Cuts in the gums are very common. Gums are a soft tissue and are cut easily. Most cuts heal fairly quickly. The bleeding should also stop quickly.

Bleeding while brushing - If you notice bleeding while brushing it could mean you are brushing too hard or with a toothbrush with stiff bristles. Changing the way you brush should take care of this.

Other Causes
Bleeding gums could be a sign of a more serious issue. This can include gum disease. If the bleeding gums are combined with other symptoms such as pain, loose teeth and discoloration of the gums, it is possible that there is gum disease causing the bleeding.
